In a challenging project that led to amazing results, Kate and her husband remodeled their entire builder-grade oak staircase themselves, transforming it from dated and drab to a classic and beautiful entry.

Kate's home office was every shade of brown until she got her hands on it. The walls are covered in beautiful grasscloth wallpaper, which Kate hung herself. A lucky coincidence led her to a local store’s going out of business sale, where she snagged most of the furniture in this space and gave it a crisp coat of white paint.

Kate’s addicted to thrift stores, and always on the hunt to transform the mundane into something unique, modern and beautiful. Believe it or not, this gray credenza with a geometric painted pattern was once a two tone dated piece with a laminate top.

Kate topped her refinished credenza with a few deep pink and plum accessories, and hung an inspiration board to display reminders and mementos.
Kate demonstrates how easy it is to turn a thrift store chair into a modern beauty. All you need is a little spray paint, some fresh new fabric, and if you want a tailored look, a few turns on a sewing machine for a crisp new upholstered seat cushion.

Kate and her husband built their kitchen for family and entertaining. They mixed classic white cabinetry topped with crema marble with a gray green painted island and a ebony glazed cherry wood top. Kate shares all the lessons she learned during her kitchen renovation in her blog, a must-read for any homeowner contemplating a kitchen remodeling project.

The upholstered tufted headboard was one of Kate’s many DIY projects. It involved an afternoon of cutting the plywood, spacing the holes, adding foam, batting and fabric, then tufting with fabric covered buttons.

The lamp pictured was previously a bronze lamp from Kmart, yet with the addition of silver leaf, it makes a glamorous statement in this feminine bedroom.

Many mistake it for wallpaper, but Kate actually hand pained this trellis wall in her master bedroom with a homemade stencil and some metallic craft paint.

Kate's fresh teal and white laundry room was originally drab, but she spent a week refinishing the cabinets and making a new roman shade to revamp the entire space. You’ll also spy one of her favorite DIY projects: a laundry room drying rack that she made just for drying delicates.

Kate found this Ikea Hemnes dresser on Craigslist and personalized it with some crisp blue stripes for her young son’s room.
