DIY designer and "Bower Power" blogger Katie Bower shares why she's proud of the budget-friendly renovation work in her Georgia home.

Brighter, Bigger Space
Katie maximized her small dining room space with room-expanding tricks, such as light colored walls, bright curtains, new lighting, and four mirrors, which help to reflect light into the space. She chose floating shelves instead of a heavy china cabinet, which opened up valuable floor space.
Dining In Style
Katie choose bright blues and yellows for her tablesetting, with woven twine balls as a centerpiece.
Nursery Accents
To create a modern cabin feel in their son's nursery, Katie and her husband added a rustic accent wall to the space made of broken shipping pallets. The accent wall also features a faux deer head, which Katie found on eBay and spraypainted white.
Guests Welcome

Katie's guests feel right at home in this chic, hotel-esque bedroom.
Master Bedroom

Katie solved the problem of an off-center window in her master bedroom by creating a draped wall behind the bed. To give the curtains a "built in" look, Katie installed a header and crown molding.
Flirty, Feminine Space

A small spare bedroom gets feminine with a coat of pale pink paint and some splashes of color in accent pillows and throws.
Unusual Details
Unusual items help pull the nursery together, such as the buffet console turned changing table, an oversized pendant light and a gallery wall filled with child-friendly images. Dead space above a nursery rocker gets a splash of decor with inexpensive shelves that hold all the owl-themed gifts from friends and family.
Flowing Floorplan
The old layout separated the den from the living room. By creating a doorway, Katie and her husband increased their entertaining space and gave a better flow to the home. Brown walls, dark furniture and basic white pieces get lit up with colors in the textiles and art.
Going Green
Katie considers the green chairs as the "Kate Spade" of her living room.
Pillow Mix and Match
A variety of brightly-colored accent pillows give Katie's living room pops of texture and color, and no two pillows match. Katie keeps her coffee table decorated and baby-proofed with a white tray.
Kitchen Peninsula

Katie's kitchen, which used to be closed off with cabinets got a full transformation by incorporating a peninsula that looks into the entertaining area.
